BC Housing and the Housing Registry

Subsidized housing is affordable rental housing where the government pays a portion of your rent for you.  Generally tenants in subsidized housing pay a rental amount that is based on their income (called "rent geared to income").  There is extremely high demand for this type of housing, and BC Housing is the crown corporation that provides these subsidies for housing. 

If you would like to live in subsidized housing, you'll first need to look at BC Housing's Housing Listings to determine where you want to live.  The way to apply is based on where the building is in the listings. 

• Section One is a list of buildings that BC Housing directly manages, so to apply for any of these buildings, you will need to fill out an application with the BC Housing "Housing Registry". Housing Registry Application forms are available directly through BC Housing by going online; visiting BC Housing's Storefront Office at 4555 Kingsway in Burnaby; or by calling 604-433-2218 or 1-800-257-7756 toll free.

• Section Two is a list of buildings that are subsidized by BC Housing, but operated by other housing providers.  To apply for buildings in this section you will need to apply directly to the housing providers. 
  

To increase your chances of being selected for a unit, we recommend that you include a wide range of developments from the BC Housing Registry as well as applying directly to developments not listed on the registry.Seniors Services Society is a community access point for the BC Housing Registry program.
