Housing Counselling

Seniors Services Society provides information on housing options for seniors.  We are not a housing provider nor are we able to provide housing placements; however we have experienced and knowledgeable staff who can provide information that will help you to find appropriate housing. 

When you are connected to our Housing Department, trained staff will ask you a series of detailed questions to determine your housing and services needs. All client interviews are confidential, and if you are phoning on behalf of a senior we will always speak with the client before taking any action to make sure that they are directly involved in  the decision making.

We ask specific and personal questions about factors such as your health and income because these will affect your eligibility for the various types of seniors housing.  For example:

• Your eligibility for subsidized housing is based on your income

• To access publicly funded residential care you will require an assessment through your health unit

Once the Housing Counsellor clearly understands your particular situation, a package of information will be assembled according to your housing needs and sent to you by mail.
