For over 10 years legendary New West stylist Lorna Stewart has been an integral part of our Santa for Seniors campaign. Known for her philanthropy, Lorna has an extensive network that she calls upon to contribute to causes close to her heart.
“I just send out an email to my clients and they always respond generously,” said Lorna, who has just moved into a new space at 833 Carnarvon Street (a block away from SSSBC). “They bring in gift cards, small gifts, or cash that I drop off at the society’s office.”
Lorna, who stopped counting how much she has raised for local charities after she exceeded $200,000, inherited her belief in charitable giving from her mother. She instilled in her children the importance of helping others.
“I feel better when I help someone,” said Lorna. “We all need to show kindness to one another and to help whoever we can. Every day I try to brighten somebody’s day, even if it’s just with a smile or a compliment.”
It’s people like Lorna who make New Westminster a great place to live. Thank you, Lorna, from the bottom of our hearts!
