We were thrilled to learn in mid-December that the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters (BCAB) has selected Seniors Services Society of BC as one of two winners of its 2025 Humanitarian Award. We share this year’s prize with the Tailgate Toolkit Project that is administered by the Vancouver Island Construction Association. The award is an advertising campaign valued at over $2 million, with airtime on private television and radio broadcasters donated by BCAB member stations.
“Many people are simply unaware that homelessness is affecting everyday seniors in BC,” said SSSBC CEO Alison Silgardo. “This advertising campaign will bring this issue to the forefront and help us expand vital support for vulnerable seniors.”
“The annual Humanitarian Award is a tremendous opportunity for a non-profit organization to gain significant exposure for the important work they do at no cost to them,” said BCAB President Kevin Gemmell in a news release. “This campaign will allow BCAB member broadcasters to inform listeners and viewers about the invaluable services of both organizations over a one-year period….”
